Kari Udang kandar



One of the famous nasi kandar was cooked by my father.and his recipe one of the best i can say around 1950 his popular prawn curry, yummy! prawns curry which are thick rich in spices flavor!include his Delicious fragrant Nasi Briyani watching his cooking are the most fun time...the top dishes fried chicken, fish, squid’s eggs and beef... just awesome!

Prawns Curry Recipe is a comfort meal and could be made easily at home




1 kg prawns



Remove the Prawns shells. First pull off the head. Then rinse the prawn in water.




i like to add some vegetable to my prawns curry potato,carrots,tomato,red and green chilies,
curry leaves,garlic cloves,1 cup fish curry powder



1 cup coconut milk





half tsp turmeric powder
1 tbsp tamarind paste
half tsp white pepper
half tsp coriander powder
1 tbsp dried anchovy powder (ikan bilis)
salt to taste
mix spice (cumin,Fenugreek,mustard seed,fennel seed)





Fry onions in hot oil 




and mix spice




till they turn pink




add curry potato,carrots,curry leaves,garlic 



add  water and
Stir well for a couple of minutes cook for about 5 minutes




than add turmeric powder,tamarind paste,white pepper,
coriander powder,dried Anchovy 
and salt to taste




fish curry powder



 add  half of tomato



Add water if to thick
Stir well for a couple of minutes





 keep stirring until the water is absorbed




add 1 cup of thick coconut milk



add red and green chilies




and tomato




Add the prawns




 Leave for about 10 minutes or until the prawns are cooked. check occasionally. The prawns are done when they turn pink do not overcook 





This Prawns Curry Recipe goes well with fry pappad, steamed rice and fry fish and with some vegetable,pickle sometimes. I could just eat this curry with rice without any extra side dish.
